"This past event was a huge success," said Howard Hutt, Founder and President of the EVSC.
"Some of our members showed off their homebrewed conversions, including one of the earliest High School EV Conversions.
We had a few OEM electric vehicles, some great examples of Toyota Canada's hybrids and some PHEV's.
We got to show off the next wave of automotive engineering while enjoying a BBQ.
Our next Show, 'EV Fest', will be even better because we'll have even more vehicles to show the public."
On Saturday, April 10, 2010, a very enjoyable EVent was hosted and held at Scarborough Toyota, organized by
various members of the Electric Vehicle Society of Canada, and the Toronto Hybrid Group. The event was very
well organized and featured a diversity of electric-powered vehicles, ranging from production hybrids to
home-built converted EV's and even the ZOT, a turn-of-the-century reproduction electric car
(think Henry Ford's Quadra Cycle), modernized to be a series hybrid (think Chevy Volt).
This is the first EVent of its kind held by this group in many years, and serves as a reminder to everyone as to
why it is important to "get the lead out", so to speak. Everyone who was treated so well, myself included,
gives a heartfelt thanks. Scarborough Toyota left the door open to making this an annual event, which would
be wonderful. Again, thanks to the organizers for such a well-organized event. Monte Gisborne.
Thank you to all that were able to make the EVent. We were able to get a TTC Hybrid Bus on site and
had a great turn out, we finished off 197 burgers and countless hotdogs all supplied by Scarborough Toyota.
We had 20+ vehicles, Hybrids, Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) and Battery Electric.
Awards were as follows:
Best of Show voted by Attendees was the Battery Electric 74' Dart Swinger.
Best Vehicle voted by Entrants was the battery electric 944 Porsche "SM944".

The going the Distance Award went to Aaron Cake and his Honda Insight Hybrid from London.
